The Shen family are living in a new home in the city of Yerevan.
A year ago, Shen’s family moved into the property, but their housing problems were compounded by the economic downturn.
They were forced to take temporary shelter at a homeless shelter, and have had to wait for a new building to be constructed.
The family hopes to eventually get the house built.
Shen says she and her husband are in a better place than they were in 2015, when they were homeless.
“We are now living in an apartment that has a roof, a kitchen, and a living room,” Shen told FourFourtwo.
He said the family is grateful for the city’s work on the project, which includes the purchase of an apartment and a house in the area.
“They helped us out by providing us with housing and food,” he said.
On Wednesday, the Shens welcomed a few of their neighbors.
Residents of the neighbourhood are sharing photos of the new home and sharing their stories of the hardships they faced as a result of the economic crisis.
“There are so many people who are homeless right now, and I want to share with them how I am living here,” said one woman, who asked that her name not be used.
One of the residents who shared her story was Nima, who said she had to take refuge in a shelter because of the financial problems her family faced.
As the weather turned colder, Nima and her family moved in with a friend, who helped them purchase the house.
The couple now plans to build a home together, and hope to eventually move out.
